College basketball is coming back to Lahaina, and the Maui Invitational is bringing another exciting lineup of teams, fans, and unforgettable basketball to the island.
The 2026 Southwest Maui Invitational returns to the historic Lahaina Civic Center from November 23rd–25th, featuring eight college basketball programs competing across three action-packed days.
This year's field includes Arizona, BYU, Clemson, Colorado State, Ole Miss, Providence, VCU, and Washington, giving basketball fans plenty to look forward to throughout the tournament. The three-day event features 12 games, including first-round matchups, semifinals, consolation games, and the championship.
The tournament has a special connection to Maui and its basketball history. The story dates back to 1982, when Chaminade, then a small NAIA program, pulled off a historic upset against No. 1 Virginia. That unforgettable moment helped inspire the creation of a holiday basketball tournament in Hawaiʻi, which eventually found its home at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Today, the Maui Invitational is known for combining high-level college basketball with the unique experience of watching the sport in paradise. With three days of basketball, teams from across the country, and fans filling Lahaina with tournament energy, there's plenty happening around town during the Maui Invitational.
