coco deck lahaina Featured in Orange County Register’s Look at Maui’s Recovery

Three years after the Lahaina wildfires, Maui continues to move forward. From new businesses and returning favorites to the continued support of local restaurants and community organizations, there are signs of progress throughout West Maui. A recent Orange County Register feature, Travel: What’s new and improved on Maui 3 years after tragedy,” highlights some of the changes taking place across the island, including Coco Deck Lahaina.

For our team at Coco Deck, being included in this story is an exciting reminder of how far Lahaina has come. We’re proud to continue operating in the heart of Lahaina and providing a place where locals, families, and visitors can come together for good food, refreshing drinks, sports, and plenty of aloha.

Coco Deck has always been about creating a relaxed, welcoming place to gather. From our daily Happy Hour and island-inspired menu to watching the big game with friends or letting the kids enjoy our Keiki Zone, there’s always something happening. We’re grateful to be part of the everyday moments that bring people together in Lahaina.

The Orange County Register article also highlights the planned reopening of Down the Hatch, another restaurant in the Hana Hou Hospitality family. While Down the Hatch is not yet open, plans for its eventual return are an exciting development for the Lahaina community. The return of familiar local businesses represents an important part of rebuilding the neighborhood and restoring some of the places that have long been part of the community. The article reads, “The restaurants’ parent company isn’t close to being done with its own rebuilding effort. After losing the popular Down the Hatch to the 2023 fire, Hana Hou Hospitality plans to revive the seafood concept in February, this time in Kaanapali. The team is taking over the former Paradise Grill location, and expects to bring back such signature favorites as the lobster and crab stuffed grilled cheese and poke special of the month.”

For us, recovery is about more than reopening doors. It’s about continuing to create jobs, supporting our community, welcoming guests, and keeping the spirit of Lahaina alive through the experiences we create every day.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has continued to support Coco Deck and other local businesses throughout Maui. Whether you’re a longtime local or visiting Lahaina for the first time, we’re happy to have you join us and experience the food, fun, and laid-back aloha that make Coco Deck part of the Lahaina community.

We’re proud to be here, proud of Lahaina, and excited for everything still to come.
