Giving Back to Lahaina: Supporting the Lahaina Restoration Foundation

At Coco Deck Lahaina, being part of this community means showing up for the people and places that make Lahaina home. We’re proud to be part of Hana Hou Hospitality’s Round-Up Program, and for the fourth quarter, we’re honored to support an organization with deep roots in Lahaina: the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.

The Round-Up Program gives guests at participating Hana Hou Hospitality restaurants an easy way to give back. When dining with us, guests can choose to round their check up to the nearest dollar, with 100% of those additional contributions going to the selected local nonprofit.

For Q4, every round-up contribution will benefit Lahaina Restoration Foundation and its ongoing efforts to preserve Lahaina’s history, culture, and historic places.

Founded in 1962, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation has spent decades protecting and sharing the history of one of Hawaiʻi’s most historically significant communities. Through the preservation of historic buildings, collections, documents, and cultural resources, Lahaina Restoration Foundation helps connect today’s community with the many generations who came before.

Lahaina’s historic landscape reflects diverse history. Sites throughout Lahaina tell stories of the Hawaiian Kingdom, missionary period, whaling era, and the generations of families who built their lives in the community. Historic landmarks, archaeological resources, photographs, manuscripts, and other artifacts help preserve these stories and provide a connection to Lahaina’s past.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation has played an important role in caring for many of these historic resources. Before the 2023 wildfire, they operated and maintained numerous historic sites and museums throughout Lahaina, welcoming visitors and community members who wanted to learn more about the town’s past.

Following the devastating August 2023 wildfire, much of Lahaina’s historic landscape was severely impacted. Many of the properties and collections under Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s care were damaged or destroyed, making the organization’s preservation work more important than ever. Today, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation continues working toward the recovery, preservation, restoration, and future stewardship of Lahaina’s historic places and cultural resources. Its work helps ensure that the stories connected to these places are not lost and that future generations will have opportunities to learn about and experience Lahaina’s rich history.

Supporting this work isn't simply about preserving old buildings. It is about protecting the stories, memories, traditions, and sense of place that connect Lahaina’s past with its future.

Coco Deck is proud to participate in the Round-Up Program alongside our Hana Hou Hospitality sister restaurants, Mala Ocean Tavern, Pizza Paradiso, and Pineapple Robot. When you visit us during Q4, you’ll have the opportunity to add a little extra to your bill by rounding up your total. It may only be a few cents or dollars, but when our community comes together, those small contributions can add up.

For Coco Deck, supporting the Lahaina Restoration Foundation is particularly meaningful because Lahaina is our home. We’re grateful to our guests for continuing to support local businesses and for helping us contribute to organizations working toward a stronger future for our community.

Next time you’re at Coco Deck, consider rounding up your check and joining us in supporting the Lahaina Restoration Foundation. Together, we can help preserve the stories, places, and history that make Lahaina unique.

Mahalo for being part of our community and for helping us give back.
